How CV Tailor works

Our complete strategy for turning your CV and a job description into a tailored, ATS-ready CV β€” without ever inventing experience you don't have.

The core principle β€” evidence before keywords

A tailored CV is your real background re-presented to answer the role β€” not a mirror of the job ad. A job-description keyword earns its place only when genuine experience stands behind it. We write the person, not the posting.

Every requirement β†’ one of three cases

  • Direct evidence β€” you clearly have it. We surface it prominently, in the job ad's exact terms.
  • Transferable / adjacent β€” you have related experience. We present that real experience framed for relevance, but never relabel it as the missing skill (Docker experience never becomes "Kubernetes").
  • No evidence β€” you don't have it. We leave it out. A genuine gap is fine and is reported honestly; a fabricated qualification never is.

The pipeline

1
Tailor β€” your CV is rewritten to lead with your strongest genuine matches in the role's language. (Deep mode first deconstructs the job and builds an evidence map; Standard does this in one focused pass.)
2
Independent review β€” a separate, sceptical pass scores the result. The writer never grades its own work, which keeps scoring honest.

Standard = Tailor β†’ Review (2 steps). Deep / Deep + Opus = Deconstruct β†’ Evidence map β†’ Rewrite β†’ Review (4 steps, deeper analysis).

Tailoring modes

  • Conservative β€” light touch; keeps your structure, surfaces genuine matches.
  • Balanced β€” reorders and reframes real experience to lead with what fits.
  • Aggressive β€” bold reframing; may emphasise the scale and impact of genuine achievements β€” but never invents skills or experience.

Candidate profile (optional)

A saved profile β€” built from a short interview β€” tells the engine your target roles, strengths, goals and constraints. It sharpens what gets emphasised and lets the review judge whether the job actually fits you.

The independent reviewer

  • Calibrated score β€” must-have requirements gate the number; sub-scores break down requirements, evidence strength, level match and authenticity.
  • A clear recommendation β€” Apply Β· Tune then apply Β· Probably skip.
  • Profile fit β€” is this role worth your time, given your goals?

Verify these claims β€” you stay in control

The reviewer flags anything that needs your confirmation, and your choices re-tailor the CV:

  • Overclaim something the CV states that your background doesn't back up β€” Keep (it's true), Soften (to an honest version we suggest), or Remove.
  • Could add a skill you most likely have but didn't list β€” Add (if genuinely true) or Skip.

How to strengthen it

Beyond keywords, the review surfaces the highest-leverage honest edits β€” lead with a stronger project, quantify a real result, surface buried evidence β€” using only what's already in your CV.

Our honesty guarantees

  • Never invents skills, tools, employers, titles, metrics or experience.
  • Always preserves your facts β€” dates, company names, job titles, degrees.
  • Surfaces genuine gaps honestly instead of papering over them.
  • Every claim is meant to survive a probing interview question.

ATS & language

  • Mirrors the job's exact keywords (and their variants) β€” but only for skills you genuinely have β€” and avoids tables, columns and symbols that break ATS parsing.
  • Detects the job's language and can output your CV in your chosen language, while keeping ATS keywords scannable.
